An Overview of the Sun

The Sun is a star, one of billions in the known universe. It is similar to other stars you see in the night sky, but is prominent in our lives because we orbit it once every 365 days.

The process pivotal in the creation of the Sun goes on to this very day. Roughly 4.5 billion years ago, a massive gas cloud surrounded by dust began to compress. As one small part gained in density, it started to produce a small gravitational pull. Over time, this sucked the rest of the gas and dust into an increasingly smaller area. Nobody is sure what first set off the gravity movement, but it may have been a supernova.

As the disk of material compressed, it created more gravity and sucked in more material. With spin induced, the disk produced heat. Throw in a bit of helium and trace elements and you have a cauldron that eventually became our Sun.

The actual process that fuels our Sun is called fusion. Fusion is fueled by the elements of the Sun to create what is essentially a ball of plasma. The atomic elements that act as fuel for this process are hydrogen and helium atoms. Hydrogen makes up roughly 74 percent of the mass of the Sun. Helium makes up roughly 24 percent. The remaining one percent consists of trace elements such as iron.

As to pure measurements, the Sun is pretty impressive. It does not have a solid surface, but it is generally considered to have a diameter of 864,900 miles. As a matter of comparison, the Earth has a diameter of some 7,900 miles. Every second, the Sun converts approximately 5 million tons of matter into energy. The outer layer of the sun averages roughly 11,000 degrees Fahrenheit. The temperature at the core of the sun is 27 million degrees Fahrenheit.

Tale of Two Ladies

There are two sleek, soft-eyed, lovely ladies from my neighborhood who visit me almost every day. And often at night too.

Have I got your attention?

Good.

So let’s get on with this tale of two ladies.

Andora and Marla are their names. The one thing they share is their great beauty. But that’s where the similarity ends.

Andora knows who she is. Marla is confused.

Andora is not only pretty, but also poised and personable. She knows who she is and radiates a powerful presence, confident and secure in her being. She’s loving and affectionate, but, more importantly, true to herself. She knows who she is, and she will not deny herself for the sake of another.

Marla is also very pretty, but confused and needy. She whines a lot and begs for more of my attention than I can possibly give her. She seems to have no self-confidence, and often looks lost and lonely. She has no idea who she is, and she will forsake herself for the attention of another.

Andora and Marla are cats. I realize I may be attributing human characteristics to them they do not really possess. But that’s not my point. My point is they remind me of many people I know.

Andora and Marla, though they are cats, are excellent representations of many humans today.

Andora, as John said, is secure and confident. She is loving and caring, but also always true to herself.

Marla, on the other hand, is a rather needy personality, and she will often demean herself for a few moments of attention and affection from another.

Andora has learned how to love herself — she gives herself all the attention and affection she knows she deserves. Thus she enables herself to give others — namely, her human friends — all the attention and affection she knows they deserve.
Andora is well balanced. She’s aligned with her source energy — or, if you like, her higher self. And that alignment brings her peace and poise. She radiates calm, loving energy. Many others are drawn to that.

Marla, on the other hand, is out of balance. She wanders through her life lost and lonely, wondering what it’s all about. She just doesn’t get it. Life eludes her. There’s no joy, only a deep longing for something — anything — she thinks she can get only from outside herself to make herself feel better.

And there lies the greatest and most significant difference between Andora and Marla.

Andora is self-contained. She’s always aligned with who she really is. And so she glides through life effortlessly, knowing she has — and is — all she needs. For Andora, life is beautiful.

Marla is confused. She’s always looking outside herself for validation, for a sense of self-worth. She’s always begging others for attention so she can know she’s worthy of love. Yet she does not love herself. And, therefore, she cannot draw to herself the love of others.

Love yourself first and then you will automatically love all others. It cannot be otherwise.

Andora and Marla are great role models. The question is: Which model do you want to follow?

Try to get the habit, you will be surprise of the impact that you will have on other. Smiling is inviting and soon enough, it will become a reflex that could let you go far. I know one co-worker got a promotion because the upper management tought he was a candidate with the skills to do the job but also because he seemed like someone with whom it is easy to get along with.

2. Introduce conversation. The easiest way to introduce a conversation is to ask a question. Then, follow it with a short amusing story about the situation. For example, if you are at the grocery store and you see that cute girl near the peas section, excuse yourself and ask her what she would recommend. After she has answered, follow by a joke you have seen on TV or something that happenned to you about peas when you were younger. Laughing or make a person laugh is a quality that you have to develop.

One important thing; don’t think of the rejection; it will paralyze you. If they decline, say to yourself that there must be a good reason - they are already in a relationship or not ready to get involved yet, etc..- Move on to the next one. Very important. Don’t let one or two declines prevent you from meeting that special person. If you don’t take charge of your love life, who will?

3. Then you can pass on to the next step: You give your phone number or ask for it. Simply.

That is the lowest pressure invitation because it leaves the decision to the other person to call you. Or not. That way, no one is getting hurt. You can meet tons of people that way and be a “hot commodity”. The more you will have dates, chances are that you will feel better about yourself and you will become more attractive to the eyes of the others.

Say something like ” You seem like a fun person and I would like to see you again for coffee. I don’t have much time right now so I am leaving you my phone number and call me next week and we will arrange for meeting. It was nice meeting you”

You can invite that person early in the conversation and let that person decide if they will call you. No pressure for anyone. Imagine if you do that to 3 people per week, chances are that you will have a busy dating life. You will make all of your unhappy married friends envious.

Those are just basic instructions to meet people. However, be creative. Try new method. At worst, somebody will say “no”. At best, you may meet the person of your dreams…
