Advertising Online
Ok, so you’re new to marketing online, and you need to find out what resources are the best for advertising.
You’re at a loss as to which way to turn. What do you do? First of all, step back and take a few deep breaths. This is not rocket science, and stressing over it won’t help at all and once you get your feet wet, you may well find that it’s much simpler than you thought.
Now, let’s take a look at what’s available. You have traffic exchanges, safelists, FFA’s, message boards, webrings…well, you get the picture.
The question is, which work and which don’t? That’s what we’ll attempt to cover here. What works for one advertising campaign may not work for another.
Your first step is to develop your target group. Who is it that you want to reach with your advertising? Do some demographics on your niche, and decide to whom it may appeal. Do you want to target a specific geographic area? Are you targeting a specific age group? Do you want to reach pink people with purple hair, or purple people with pink hair? Figure out to whom you want to sell your products, ideas, services, etc. Then after you’ve written this down (yes, keep notes and records), start experimenting with the different avenues available to you. Note: before you begin experimenting, be absolutely certain that you have an excellent tracking program available to track your advertising efforts. This is mandatory so that you find where your campaigns work the best. The object here is to work smarter, not harder.
Now, pick out five to ten programs from traffic exchanges, safelists, FFA’s, etc. I don’t recommend any more than ten of each, at the very most. You need to be able to keep up with what you are doing. And you need to stay focused. Less CAN be more. Choose wisely. Get advice from others who are already doing this. Check into online reports that are available for you to read, and decide which programs you want to use in the beginning.
Once you have chosen the programs which you want to use, set up your campaign(s) according to your demographics. You may need to test one or more campaigns to find which works the best. As I said, this is not rocket science. But, you do need to be willing to put forth the effort that it takes to do this seriously. It’s not for the faint of heart. And it cannot be a “hit or miss” undertaking.
If you can’t put together your own campaign, be willing to pay someone to do this for you. As the old saying goes, “You have to spend money to make money.” This is not going to be a free ride. So if that’s your mindset, lose it now.
While joining so called “free” programs is fine, you need to target some of the better known ones and plan on upgrading in those to assist you with your campaigning. There’s a wealth of programs out there. There’s nothing wrong with no cost and low cost programs, However, quite often they do not give you everything that you need to succeed in online business. So take this into consideration when you begin your advertising efforts. PLAN on spending money. Just know where you want to concentrate your efforts, and stick with your business plan. You DO have one, right? If not, we’ll cover that in another article. Stay tuned.
Alright, we’ve got our demographics, we’ve chosen our programs, and we’ve put together some campaigns for our site(s) according to to whom we want to advertise. Next step, set up your tracking program with your site URL’s. Read your instructions carefully, and be certain to dot all the “i’s” and cross all the “t’s.” If you are using a rotator, be absolutely sure that your site(s) in the rotator comply with the Terms of Service for whatever program you may use it (them) in. The last thing you want is for your site(s) to be rejected because you broke the rules.
Ok. Now, submit your site(s) to your advertising programs, and begin tracking your results. Keep up with this, if not daily then, weekly.
Where did you get the most hits? How about the most click-throughs? And what about sales? Which campaigns are getting you the best results? Tweak your campaigns, if necessary. Move them to different demographics/programs and experiment to find where each one does best, or if anything at all. If they work better in one place than another, leave them in the best one.
Are the programs that you are using getting you the results you want? Before you move from one program to another, be sure that you’ve given ample opportunity for tracking your results. Any programs that are not meeting your expectations and goals should be dropped after you’ve made your determinations. But, be fair. Give them enough time, without going overboard with the time that you devote to them. I’d recommend at least a month with a program before dropping it.
One other very important note here….BRAND yourself in any campaign that you do. Get your name and your picture out there online so that folks know who you are. Join forums where you will find like-minded people with whom you can network. Join webrings, etc., for the same reasons. Get yourself established as a very serious online marketing person.
I won’t promise you that you are going to succeed overnight. Please keep in mind that when doing business online, it’s not quite the same as a “brick and mortar” business offline. It takes more for people online to trust you and want to do business with you. This is one reason that branding is SO important.
So don’t look for overnight success. Be prepared to work for what you want and be willing to invest both time and money in what you are doing. Just watch that you don’t waste a lot of either in your efforts. Work with people whom you trust. Buy from people whom you trust. Use programs which you trust. Above all else make absolutely certain that what you are offering online is something that you, yourself, would be willing to purchase. Offer quality. Offer integrity…and have some fun doing it.
How To Monetize Your Traffic So You Get The Most Out Of It
Establishing your own E-commerce site is not like what it used to be. There are thousands of competition that is all too willing to get a bigger share of the pie. Every scheme and method you can find to augment your sales would be very beneficial.
We have got to admit to ourselves. Most of us are into it for the money. We are not going to waste our time and effort just for the fun of it. Many sites would not wait until hell freezes over just to see their profits. While there are some who takes things lightly there are always those who would rather see profit any given day.
It is common knowledge that without traffic we have no business. Like any business, without any customers you don’t get sales. Traffic represents all the people that gets a chance to see what you have to offer. The more people who see your products the more people there would be to buy them.
Nobody puts up an E-commerce site that doesn’t expect profit. We have a startup capital that needs to be regained. With a consistent traffic, we at least have a fighting chance to achieve that probability. Monetizing your traffic would optimize your chances of making the best out of it.
Making Money out of your Traffic
The best and most proven method of making a profit out of your traffic is using advertising. The internet generates hundreds of thousands upon hundred of thousands of traffic everyday. Most of them are searching for something. While some are just looking for information there is also a good percentage that is looking for something that they need.
The internet has proven to be a very reliable source in finding what was deemed to be a very unsearchable product. The internet has made the world a smaller place; you can advertise a product from the depths of Istanbul and still find a buyer from the center of Philadelphia.
Generating traffic is not an easy task. You have to contend with a great number of sites to generate a good number of traffic flow. But if done successfully this could open up a Pandora’s Box of possibilities. One of the benefits is monetizing your traffic flow.
So, to get to the core of it the more traffic you generate the more likely you are considered as a desirable, desirable, in a sense that a good traffic flowing site is easily convertible to profit. Basically traffic equals profit. Advertising is the name of the game; with the good advertising scheme you can use your traffic flow to your advantage.
When you have good traffic you have a good number of potential customers, customers that are willing to pour money into your coffers. Other than that these are also traffic that can be redirected to sponsored links that are willing to pay you for a sizeable portion of the traffic that you have generated.
This scheme is called “pay-per-click”. With every click a visitor of your site makes on an advertised link you will be paid. The more traffic you generate and the more clicks that happens would spell to more profits.
Affiliate Programs
Another method of monetizing your traffic are affiliate programs. You can link up with other tried and tested sites and online companies and monetize your traffic by having a percentage of sales generated by traffic coming from your site.
The basic idea is, traffic generated from your site will go to another site that can offer a product that you do not carry. Many programs can keep track and make records of transactions that was made possible because of site linkage.
When purchases are made by customers that was led by your site to their site you get a percentage of that sale. Affiliate programs would give you the benefit of monetizing your traffic without the actual need of carrying or promoting a certain product.
There are so many ways and methods to monetize your traffic. All it takes is a bit of hard work and the desire to successfully launch a profit-earning site. The internet is a veritable source of information, many tips and guides are offered everywhere in how to monetize your traffic and make your site a good profit earner.
How to Boost Your Traffic and Profits with Content!
“How to Boost Your Traffic and Profits with Content!”
Are you aware of how vitally important and valuable CONTENT is to your online business? In fact, content can do more to build your business and profits than just about any other resource or service available.
Following is a list of 5 key ways that content can help build your traffic, subscribers, and customers starting today!…
1. Boost your search engine ranking and daily visitor count by posting keyword rich articles and content on your web-site. For example, if your business involves offering products and services related to fitness, posting fitness related articles and content will attract unlimited prospective customers on a regular basis!
2. Generate double or even triple the number of newsletter subscribers you do currently, simply by offering content in the form of “special reports” or manuals as bonuses for subscribing to your publication. People love freebies, so give them what they want and watch as your results increase!
3. Create an automated cashflow by using content to formulate multi-part email training courses with related web-site or affiliate links “sprinkled” throughout each course. Use an autoresponder service to automate the delivery of your training course (such as a 5 part training course delivered over a 5 day period).
Training courses can also serve as excellent bonus offers for your prospective newsletter subscribers.
4. One of the most important keys to a successful online business is not JUST having a mailing list or newsletter subscribers… It’s about building a trusting relationship with your subscribers (ie, “cultivating” your list)…
By sending informative articles (content) to your list on a regular basis you will establish yourself as an expert on your topic of business, as well as gain the trust of your subscribers over time. As a result, your subscribers will be EAGER to take advantage of your “paid” product and service offers. (Just make sure that you NEVER take advantage of the relationship you develop with your list by offering products or services of poor quality just to make a quick buck!)
If there is one “constant” in Internet marketing, it’s this: A cultivated list of subscribers is as good as money in the bank. Write that down and never forget it!
5. Another excellent way to generate no cost traffic is by submitting ready-made articles to “content hungry” web-site and newsletter publishers with your “resource box” attached. A resource box is nothing more than a little 3-6 line “bio” about you and/or your web-site - including a link to your site (or even instructions on how to subscribe to your newsletter)…
When submitting or offering your article(s) for reprint purposes, just make sure to specify that each article is to be reprinted “as is” with your resource box attached.
…Even one article can go a LONG way towards generating no cost traffic and visitors for you. Just imagine your article being sent out to a newsletter subscriber base of 100,000 individuals - many of whom will be reading YOUR included resource box and clicking on your URL to learn more about what you have to offer!
Well there you have it, 5 sure ways to build your online business exponentially with the help of articles and content…
With the declining effectiveness of many of the online advertising methods that we’ve relied on in past years, content is only strengthening its position as the ultimate KEY to generating unlimited traffic, subscribers, and customers!

Creating Landing Pages For Google AdWords
In creating a Google AdWords campaign, advertisers often spend most of their time creating their ads and researching their keywords. There is often little or no thought to where the surfer will be sent when the ad does its job and generates a click. Often advertisers send the surfer to the home page of their website, hoping the website will do the rest of the work. These advertisers are neglecting a very important part of their AdWords campaign: the landing page. A good landing page is just as important as a good ad, good keywords and strategic bidding. By creating an effective landing page advertisers can increase conversions, which will make their campaigns more competitive and profitable.
When creating your landing page remember to make it specific to the ad that is sending the traffic. As with everything else, the landing page must be highly targeted. If a surfer clicked an ad expecting to find gold plated doorknobs, then you better make sure the corresponding landing page has just that. There is nothing worse than having a customer who is ready to buy but can’t.
The role of your ad is to get clicks. The role of your landing page is to convert those clicks into leads or sales. Make sure you can convert the surfer within 3 clicks or less. If the surfer has to click more than 3 times to buy your product you will probably lose the sale. Ideally you want the surfer to click only twice, once on your ad, and once on your landing page to get to your order page. That’s it. The more clicks you have, the less sales you make.
Remember that surfers are impatient. You need to give them what they want with as little effort as possible on their part. Therefore, it is important to always keep your original objective (conversions) in mind, as well as to refer to the specific keywords and calls to action in your ad, when creating your landing page.
The landing page is where you will use all your copywriting skills to complete the sale. As I said before, the goal of your ad is to get the click, and the goal of your landing page is to get the sale. It is in your landing page where you have all the room you need to explain all the benefits and features of your product or service. It is important to remember that your landing page is your sales page.
Your ad did its job by generating enough interest in the surfer to click through to your landing page. Now you should continue to hook and draw the prospect into your copy to complete the sale. The best way to do this is through a good headline. This headline should hook the prospect by appealing to her self-interest. What’s in it for her? How will your product or service benefit her?
Continue to expand on your headline in your copy with more benefits for the prospect, and support these benefits with the features of your product or service. Do this throughout your copy and with subheadings. Make sure you keep the prospect interested and try to build some excitement in your product or service.
Use plenty of bullets and lists in your copy to show your benefits and features. Bullets are essentially mini headlines. Bullets can be used to summarize all benefits the prospect will gain from your product or service. They can also summarize all the problems your prospect is experiencing and that your product or service can solve.
Headlines, subheadings and bullets are very important aspects of your landing page. As I said above, surfers are impatient and impulsive. They tend to be in a hurry and want instant gratification. As a result, they often only scan the page. If a surfer is scanning your page, they will only read your headline, subheadings, and bullets. It is important that you get all the benefits to the prospect included in your headlines, subheadings, and bullets, for this reason. Of course there are also surfers who will read your whole page, so you will need to have good copy, which provides greater detail and all the information the prospect needs to make a decision.
Pictures are usually very effective, especially if you are selling a product. In this case make sure the surfer gets a good, clear look at the product. Since the surfer cannot touch the product it is important that they get as much visual information as they need. Your copy should support your pictures and your pictures should support your copy. The important thing is that the landing page is focused on what the prospect wants. So if the prospect is looking for gold plated doorknobs, then when they click your ad they should go to a landing page where they only see pictures of gold plated doorknobs, and only read text that describes the features and benefits of gold plated doorknobs.
Finally, at some point you will need to ask for the sale. This all needs to be done on your landing page. Do not ask the surfer to click through to another page and try to close the sale there. You must close the sale on your landing page. The surfer should only have to click through to your order page to provide their credit card information. If you are only looking to generate leads, have the form they need to fill out on the landing page as well.
The landing page is a very important aspect of a Google AdWords campaign. You should spend the same amount of time, if not more, creating your landing page as you do creating your ad and generating your keywords. By creating effective landing pages you can improve the overall profitability of your campaigns. Improving the profitability of your campaign can allow you to bid more per keyword and generate more traffic. In end, the landing page is an integral part of your search engine marketing and should not be neglected.
Web Audio, The Top Of The Wave.
You can now put audio anywhere that you can put html code or even just a link to your .mp3 file will work.
So many uses, so many options. You have to admit, it’s really starting to show up everywhere. Don’t be left behind. The internet is changing so rapidly that, you’re either on top of the wave or you’re just floating around aimlessly.
Here is just some of the things you can do with audio…
Audio Ads/Audio Website: If you have a website selling anything, you can add audio, with or without audio buttons showing, right in your sales letter. You’ve probably heard that people remember a whole lot more of what they hear on the internet opposed to what they read and that it even increases your credibility when people can put a voice to the person trying to sell them something.
Audio Testimonials: Now you can add a whole lot more credibility to your website by getting some of your satisfied customers to give you an audio testimonial and put them right on your sales page so everyone who visits your site can hear how great your product works for others.
Audio Email/Postcards: It’s not so uncommon anymore to receive audio Email/Postcards. Earlier this month I even sent one to my sister with myself and my wife singing Happy Birthday. I even thought about spending more time on this singing/recording thing, but my sister suggested that I steer away from that idea and keep doing what I’m doing now. Not sure why she said that, but I guess I should take her advise, she has a pretty good head on her shoulders.
Audio Newsletters: You can send your newsletters with audio or send an email with a link to your audio newsletter on your website. It’s just so much more convenient for your readers to listen more and read less. The more convenient it is for them, the better it is for you.
Audio Auctions: Audio is showing up on auctions now. I must admit, when I click on an auction and someone starts talking to me, it does get my attention.
Audio Ebooks: Looking for a niche to get into? Audio ebooks are a natural. I’m not suggesting that you replace a childs mother with a computer, but imagine settling your child down for a nap and hitting the start button on your computer so your child could hear an audio ebook of some classic fairy tales. And that’s just one example. So many topics, so many categories, so many ways to go.
Audio Courses: Produce professional audio courses on any topic. Make a series of them, step1, step2, step3, etc. Put it on your website and include graphics and screen shots. Again, so many topics, so many catagories, so many ways to go.
You can also put your sermon, song, speech, or stories on your website, message boards, blogs or anywhere else that you can put a few lines of html code or even just a link to an .mp3 file.
Remember, It’s Fast, It’s Easy and It’s Fun.
Again, don’t be left behind. The internet is changing so rapidly that, you’re either on top of the wave or your just floating around aimlessly.
One last thing, I’m not sure if you’ve noticed, but most all the big name internet marketers are using audio in one form or another. That tells me that it’s working.
Get Tons of Free Website Traffic and Get Rich
Everyone now knows of someone who has made it big off the internet. Well it can happen and it isn’t luck. Its a little work and a whole lot of reward. There are people with home businesses making millions and millions. Here’s how they do it.
1) You have to have a website. Websites are cheap and easy to create. Just look up website and domain name on Google.
2) Pick a good domain name and product to sell. The better your choice of domain name, the more you will sell. ie. usedcarparts or similar will be easily remembered as alguidiccispullityourself will not be. You need to have something to sell to make money. There are a few individuals that use advertising like adsense and bidvertiser to generate revenue, but it takes a long time and basically you are better off selling your own wares.
3) Trade links. There are several programs out there that will allow you to do this. Make sure the links you trade with are relevant to what you are offering and aren’t banned by Google (page rank 0). For instance if you are selling cookbooks, a casino link won’t do much for giving you quality traffic (visitors). The main thing here is you want QUALITY over QUANTITY. Quality, highly targeted traffic is wiorth so much more as you will get higher sales conversions and more bang for your buck or time invested.
4) Free traffic networks. There is only one name or website you should remember - Traffic Swarm. This free traffic generator delivers highly targeted traffic and will result in thousands of sales. If you want to make enough money for this home business to be your only income and basically retire - you need this. All the big names and companies use this. It is easy to do and it really delivers. The best thing is that it keeps growing. You will get more and more traffic to the point where you might say you have to either hire more help or slow it down - thats a great thing as you can never make too much money! Join Trafficswarm now - you will be glad you did - I guarantee it!
5) Content is king. Put fresh, interesting and highly relevant content on your site(s). This is how blogs are making tons of advertising dollars. The search engines crave tons of fresh content and will reward you with higher seqarch placement and more traffic if you do this. Write some articles or a page or two about your item. Maybe a question and answer page. A reference page with lots of positive recommendations from customers. You get the idea.
This is all you need to get on the road to internet riches. Do the above and you will be glad you did as your hits counter and traffic will skyrocket.
Why Budding Authors Should Go Digital
You’ve put hours and hours of research, writing, revisions, editing, proofreading - and really, your heart and soul - into writing the best how-to book you can imagine. The text is interesting and informative, the diagrams and schematics precise, and overall, you have a piece of work in which you can take pride. You’re well on your way to becoming an author of note at your local book store, except for one small detail: no one wants to publish your masterpiece. Thanks to the burgeoning industry of internet publishing, however, you have another option: ebook publishing.
An ebook is to the literary world what email is to the postal system. Ebooks are books that have been formatted for electronic presentation, and nearly anyone can publish an ebook with minimal effort and more importantly, minimal resources. Ebooks do not rely on publishing houses to come to fruition. Most ebooks are designed and formatted either by the author, or if you’re really serious, by a qualified designer so that the pages conform to printing and aesthetic standards. The pages are then either saved as PDF, html or common word processing files. PDF files are generally the best way to present your ebook material, but depending on how you intend to promote your ebook publication, the other formats may be more appropriate.
Once your ebook is in the works, it is time to launch an ebook promotion and marketing plan. Traditional marketing strategies such as advertising in the newspaper may be a good idea if your ebook addresses a topic of wide appeal, but the electronic nature of ebooks begs for a similar style of promotion.
The first step in marketing and promoting an ebook should be to ensure you have great content. A lot of would-be authors mistake the simplicity of publishing an ebook as an invitation to present low-quality work. Beware: readers will abandon shoddy writing whether it is on paper or on screen so make sure you have well-written, well-formatted prose that has been checked and rechecked for errors.
The next step to effective internet marketing of an ebook is to create a dynamite website that will grab the attention of potential ebook buyers and move them to act. Again, if you’re not super web friendly, invest in the services of a professional web designer to help you achieve a polished website that allows buyers to learn about your ebook, about you and, of course, to order your ebook. From a consumer perspective, one of the benefits of buying an ebook is that you can do so from the comfort of your own home. Keeping that in mind, make sure your website has instant payment and downloading features. It is also important to have a website that will show up in search engine queries. Talk to your web master about techniques such as publishing fresh content, meta information, keywords, links and RSS feeds to maintain a high search engine ranking.
Email is another super medium to spread the word about your new ebook. Create mailing lists (or buy them online), so that you can send mass messages heralding the arrival of your latest work. Some ebook authors find it helpful to have an email notification opt-in feature on their websites so that interested readers can receive automatic notification of news concerning your ebook or future work.
So how does one profit from writing an ebook? Just as with traditional books, ebook material is copyrighted and therefore belongs to the author. The ebook author can sell individual copies of his or her ebook; can sell resell rights or reprint rights to a prospective buyer; or even set up a club or subscription-type system in which readers pay an annual or monthly fee for access to material that is protected from the public internet community.
Ebooks are a fantastic way to tap into the publishing world. While not yet considered mainstream, ebooks are quickly becoming more popular. In fact, for some often-changing non-fiction subjects, ebooks are preferable to print books that rapidly fall out of date. With an ebook, information can be quickly and easily updated with the latest information.
Generate Online Income While You Sleep. Is It True?
In today’s world, it seems that almost any topic is open for debate. While I was gathering facts for this article, I was quite surprised to find some of the issues I thought were settled are actually still being openly discussed.
The Internet has truly revolutionized the global economy and the way people conduct business. With E-commerce, there are now numerous opportunities of making money anywhere in the world, working at your office, at the comforts of your home or even while you’re asleep!
There are many ways to earn money on online businesses, and some are listed below:
1. E-stores. With the power of the Internet, you can now create your web site (or have someone create it for you) and have your own shopping center and sell goods and services to anyone anywhere in the world. You can have a fully automated system that allows your store to operate on its own, 24 hours a day - this means undertaking sales transactions and generating income even in the middle of the night, while you are sleeping!
There are numerous advantages of having an E-store. You are providing your customers with the ability to shop at their own convenience, no matter what time of day. You can also create an opportunity to ‘reach out’ to your customers through a personalized customer service by asking for their feedback or by setting up an ‘online community’ for them to communicate with you and the other online shoppers.
The challenge here, however, is to ’steer’ potential customers to your store by having them learn about your website. Intense advertising might solve this problem. Another issue that needs to be addressed is determining the kind of products and/or services to sell. Whether they are books, videos, software, or a skill, the answer here is providing customers with a variety of products while knowing the familiar commodities (those that are selling well) at the same time. There are also a number of conservative people who are hesitant to give sensitive information over the web, especially their credit card numbers, but this can be worked out by resolving the security issues.
2. Marketing. Online advertising is also another way of earning money on the Internet. One way to do this is by joining an affiliate program that enables us to sell a company’s products and earn income from these sales, or earn commissions by enlisting other people to market these products. It is a great way to form business relationships that may prove to be lucrative.
Sometimes the most important aspects of a subject are not immediately obvious. Keep reading to get the complete picture.
When planning to join an affiliate program, you have to at least bear take the following into consideration:
Believe in the product. You have to believe a product’s sales potential. It would be hard to make a pitch to other people if you yourself would not even want to buy it!
Reasonable pay. Choose a program that will pay you sufficiently and allow you to keep a profit even after deducting your expenses.
No sign-up fee. An affiliate program that charges you a fee or requires you to purchase something first before joining would most likely be an illegitimate one.
This also poses a challenge, specifically on the web site traffic (or the number of visitors to your site). It is important to have a large number of people visiting your web site and to know who they are, because this is what attracts advertisers. One way to do this is to conduct online surveys that requests for the visitor’s personal information. A favorable response can be guaranteed using freebies and other incentives.
3. Subscriptions. This can be done by providing customers access to information for a certain fee - be it a daily or weekly copy of a ‘newspaper’ or a ‘magazine’, or other documents such as thesis or research papers. While a vast amount of topic can be accessed on the Internet for free (using Search Engines), there are still those that are of value that people would be willing to pay for them. There is also the benefit of reduced business costs, because it is less costly to send information over the Internet than to ship them overseas.
No matter what business you decide to pursue on the Internet, there will always be the great potential of making money easily (with considerably less workload), given the best ideas, the right tools, and the proper attitude to go with it. While it is true that there still remains the risk of encountering a possible scam with all the glorified facts and figures (the ‘get-rich-quick’ scheme), the important thing to do is to examine each opportunity thoroughly to know if it really works before putting any of your money on to it.
Sometimes it’s tough to sort out all the details related to this subject, but I’m positive you’ll have no trouble making sense of the information presented above.
8 Secrets To Conquering The Internet
While some marketers struggle for years to earn enough money to pay the bills, others zoom to the top, their sites exploding with traffic and their in-boxes flooded with order and payment statements. Why? How do these marketers differ from the rest? Are they smarter? Braver? Do they invest more wisely or have more money to invest? Do they know the right people?
No. In fact, there’s only one real differencde between them and the rest of the internet marketing community. In a word: Attitude.
They aren’t intimidated by the internet — they eat it for breakfast. Like ancient conquerors, they plunge into the vast sea of the internet, heedless of its tempermental storms, jutting their jaws at the giant terrors that it holds while the rest of us shiver on the shores, barely daring to get our toes wet.
Of course they’ve been knocked down, beaten back and have the scars to prove it. But with each beating, their determination only strengthens and, as the sting of defeat fades, they learn from their mistakes. Most of all, they never, ever give up and never question their resolve. They will make it or die trying.
Thinking like a conqueror: THIS is the first and most elemental step to becoming one. Because of this, they take swift, decisive action, they reach out and grab what they want and they don’t take “no” for an answer.
Okay. Great. But what does this mean to the average person? Can anyone be an internet conqueror or do they have to be born that way?
CONQUERORS ARE MADE, NOT BORN Attitude is everything. Attitude influences thinking patterns, which decides a course of action which, ultimately, leads to success or failure. Like the old saying goes, “the only true failure is the one who gives up.” And the ones who give up don’t have the attitude to continue on.
So attitude is the #1 secret to conquering the internet. Below is all 8 secrets, some of which may shock those still cringing at the shoreline. It’s not necessary to do all of them, if indeed that’s even possible since each can become quite demanding. And these are not all-inclusive, since there are probably new and better ways coming out every day. But each demonstrates the difference in attitude and thinking of a marketer and an internet Conqueror.
1. ATTITUDE Marketers follow once the way has been cleared. Conquerors forge ahead.
2. CREATE A PRESENCE Marketers tend to stay in the background, creating pages and adding their links, but never making themselves available to the general public. Conquerors create a specific “presence”, a personality that distinguishes them from others. This attracts attention, which also attracts sales. They do this by…
3. START AN ORIGINAL NEWSLETTER Marketers read newsletters; Conquerors write them. If this seems daunting, begin it as a blog with an RSS Feed. Do NOT use a pre-written system or import other’s content. The key is to create something unique that cannot be duplicated.
4. PUBLISH AN EBOOK Marketers read ebooks; Conquerors write them. It doesn’t have to be very long, just original and informative. If this seems like too much, start by publishing articles. Once 10-15 articles have been written, re-write them into one cohesive collection.
5. START AN ARTICLE SUBMISSION SITE Marketers submit articles; Conquerors run the submission sites. Again, this software is available, in some cases, for free. By doing this, both authors and newsletters come to the Conquerors’ site, instead of vise versa.
6. START A FORUM Marketers go to forums; Conquerors create forums and draw others to them. The key to this is finding a niche that has no forum and starting one. There are programs that offer free forum programs on the internet. But be prepared to set policy and moderate the forum, as well as promote it.
7. CREATE A SEARCH ENGINE Marketers submit to search engines; Conquerors run them. Again, the software is available online. There are even some that, to some extent are self-automated. The only set up involved is writing a simple letter to the submission services, asking that they include your site in their listings.
8. CREATE A HOMEPAGE Marketers have a home page; Conquerors provide them. A home page may require a bit more set up, bandwidth and maintenance than other options but, by creating a home page, a conqueror draws regular visitors to themselves and a revenue source for posting ads.
There is a recurring theme in each of these examples. That is, to do something which organically attracts visitors. So the final difference? Marketers run after visitors; Conquerors attract visitors to them.–mo
Make Sure You Over-Deliver
So, you want a profitable on-line business. With just under 30,000,000 web sites on internet marketing newsletters alone, where on earth do you start? I wanted a mentor that does exactly what I plan to do with my business. What would that be? I wanted a mentor that does virtually what I have done off-line for years. I want a mentor who over-delivers.
As a savvy marketer, you already know that repeat customers are the mainstay of your business. A quality internet marketer also recognizes happy customers as his/her best source of viral marketing (described in this fantastic ebook I found). So what does this have to do with over-delivering. To quote Leon Leonwood Bean, founder of L.L. Bean in Freeport, Maine “Make sure the story isn’t better than the store.” Keep ‘em Happy!
What exactly is over-delivering? First, you under-promise. Ensure that you tell your customer the truth and are conservative in your estimate of what they will be receiving and what its benefits are. Make your commitments with clarity, simplicity, and restraint. Don’t burden the relationship with promises; instead grace it with extras that you can give effortlessly when the time is right. Next, work hard to deliver something better than what you have promised. Finally, deliver more than you have promised of a quality far superior to what your customer is expecting.
As taught in this wonderful e-book I just received, you have structured your customer base so that they can be contacted often. Now, let’s over-deliver. Because your customer has just received a top quality product and maybe one or two bonuses from you as downloads, why not send another unexpected bonus later… in an email. Just send a download link to a really valuable, related bonus in an email a few days later. You can do this several times over a period of weeks or months. In each email, thank your customer of his purchase and point out that this is an additional bonus as a token of gratitude for his business. This is a very simple method of building customer satisfaction and goodwill. By spreading the unexpected bonuses out, you give the customer time to “dig into” the bonuses. If you send all of the bonuses at once, the customer may just download them on his hard drive and never look at them, at all. Not a good way to get your information out there.
Another method that can be used with bonuses sent after the sale is to point out in each email that another bonus will arrive in a few days/weeks. Your new customer begins expecting your emails, and is much less likely to ask for a refund. They know that if the order is canceled there will be no other bonuses.
Create well in all your endeavors,
Susan Walker
