Tainted Outs

Posted in Enjoyment, Gaming World, Wheel Of Luck by admin on the December 10th, 2009

Words like “bad beat” and “tilt” are the boogeymen of the poker online world. Professoinal players use these two monsters to keep their kids in line, but there’s another beast lurking at the poker table. Despite their comparative lack of attention, tainted outs are a brutal, soul-crushing part of the game of poker online.

The rough part of tainted outs is that they take something that helps you and turned it into something that can cripple you. Outs are the cards that complete your hand, giving you what you need to win the game. They are what you’re hoping for. Unfortunately, tainted outs are exactly the same thing.

Say you have a King-10 of hearts, and the flop comes out 3 of spades, Ace of hearts, and 3 of hearts. All you need is another heart to make your hand, and when the turn comes out 8 of hearts, you’re overjoyed. You get excited and start pouring chips into the pot, and despite your enthusiasm, you manage to sucker in one caller. Eventually your stack is in the pot, and you’re practically salivating as you imagine doubling up on your hand. Until the showdown, when your Ace-high flush is trumped by a full boat, 3’s over 8’s. The 8 of hearts that made your hand just happened to make someone else’s better hand. Tainted outs. Remember this at casino online.

What Do You Know about Poker Software?

Posted in Enjoyment, Gaming World, Wheel Of Luck by admin on the November 18th, 2009

As poker players, we are far more used to thinking about the poker games than the software that is involved in making them run. It is easier to think about the cards then wonder about the complicated mathematical formulas and computer programs that work to bring the gaming experience to our computers. I am not saying that you should become a computer programmer to play better poker, but is definitely worth your while to know a little bit about the poker online software that is used at your favorite casino. If you know a little bit about the software in use, you can decide the overall quality of your favorite casino. Good casinos use good software while dodgy casinos use dodgy software. This trick is particularly useful if you are a new player in the gaming world who is trying to find a casino that suits your needs. Stick to the casinos that use software from well reputed companies on their websites. You should be able to easily find a list of the software provided in the main casino lobby. If you don’t recognize the brand name, or can’t find any date online to support its accuracy, steer clear. Knowing a bit about software will make it so you can find the best and most accurate casinos on the internet.

Funds Transfers

Posted in Enjoyment, Gaming World, Wheel Of Luck by admin on the October 16th, 2009

A friend of mine didn’t have enough money to play in our weekly poker tournament on PokerStars. I had just deposited some via eChecks. I tried to transfer her the money, but since I had just deposited, my account needed a few days to clear the funds for a cashout or transfer. I can play with the money right away, and the site assumes that my checking account is in good standing, but I cannot withdraw any money from my account until the books are settled.

So, I asked another friend to transfer the money, and he did. The next week the person who borrowed money had deposited their own money to play online poker with and transfer back to the loaning party. They, too, had to wait a few days for the funds to clear. But then a week had gone by and the same problems were occurring. She could not transfer the money to the person who loaned it to her. Assuming something was wrong, I contacted support and asked about their policies.

“Please note that we only have policies regarding cashing out funds directly from a real money transfer:

Our new cashout policy requires you to accumulate at least 15% in VPPs on the amount of the funds you wish to cashout, which stems from transferred funds.

To make this requirement easier to understand, you can think of needing to accumulate 15 VPPs for every $100 you received via transfer that are attempting to cashout. In your case, you have accumulated XXX amount of VPPs since receiving the transferred funds (provide date) you to attempted cashout.”

So, in order to send the money back, or to someone else, you must have played with it. You can’t just hold onto it and send it back in a week. I assume this is to prevent money laundering and other various money-moving schemes. It’s reasonable, and I’m sure with the right excuse, you could email support and get the issue resolved without fulfilling the quota. Still, sometimes gamblers need help holding onto money too. If they have a lot, maybe they give some to someone they trust to make sure they don’t blow it all at the casino. This seemingly can’t be done online…

Software Upgrades

Posted in Enjoyment, Gaming World, Wheel Of Luck by admin on the September 18th, 2009

While No Limit Texas Hold ‘Em poker online tends to still be the game of choice for the majority of online poker gaming advocates, more and more people are tending toward branching off into different games7 stud, Limit Hold ‘Em, and Omaha for example. Well, the winner of the new popularity contest is Omaha poker , and there’s some good news for you tech junkies out there. The producers of Hold Em Manager have released a new beta version of a similar product called Omaha Manager. I know, creative name right. But don’t let the lack of creativity fool you, as Hold Em Manager has become one of the best known and most used tracking software tools around. So what’s the big deal. Well, it allows online players easy access to stats on other players, and in a game like Omaha (basically Hold ‘Em on steroids) stats can be a serious aid to the online player. And so far the reviews are great. The program is database based, so what happens is that every hand you play is logged on your computer. The known hole cards the flops, and the money you make or lose. And just like the other tracking software, there is a HUD for making life much simpler just by showing onscreen stats in real time next to your opponents. Best of all, most poker rooms consider such software to be completely legitimate and legal to use on their sites, provided that the data you use is from hands you’ve actually played.

A Bottle or no?

Posted in Enjoyment, Informationer by admin on the April 30th, 2009

Are you a bottled or a bottle less water cooler fan? Though both essentially deliver the same service, as you get your daily water, both hot and cold, from either model, the look is very different. The water cooler company is the leading specialist in plumbed water coolers. These are the mains-fed varieties, which have to be installed by a trained technician- the water cooler company supplies this service. They also have to be regularly sanitised (once every three months ideally), and they have to be serviced and maintained to make sure they are always operating correctly. These water coolers tend to look sleeker and more modern than the bottled variety, which maybe something that appeals to you, or something that repels you in every way. The bottled variety are the types you are likely to be more familiar with. Complete with big blue plastic upturned bottle, this style is much more recognisable and classic. Alan Sugar will tell you that. On the Apprentice, he opts for a bottled variety cooler, the Zenith model to be precise. Perhaps this is a clear indication that we should all follow suit. If you want a professional looking office environment, opt for a bottle water cooler.

Party Supplies

Posted in Being Creative, Children + Parents, Enjoyment by admin on the April 29th, 2009

Parties are arranged to express a feeling of joy and happiness so they need to be attractive and colorful. That would give your guests a pleasant environment to enjoy. Party Supplies are items used for this purpose. The items used to decorate your parties and make them colorful are referred as Party Supplies. They may include balloons, cake accessories, candles, gift wrap, lights, music, ribbon, wearables and etc.

Most of these supplies are to make children happy with different colorful ribbons, lots of lighting and decorations. As children are impressed by different cartoon characters, they love to dress up like them. Another idea could be using removable tattoos so that kids can use their desired character. In order to make the party interesting, make colorful goody bags. First of all you need to create some paper bags at home. Use a bright colored paper to make the bag. You can make the handles by super-gluing a colored strand of thread or even wooden sticks for the bag. Now you need to think of various options to fill the goody bags.

Music is supposed to be the soul of a party. One needs to be very careful in selection of the party music because different people like different kinds of music. Best practice is to select an on going hit party music which is better than playing your own favorite list.

Some may think that it’s a waste of money or a silly practice to follow, but partying is a good way of expressing our social side of human nature. One should be social enough to share his/her happiness with others too. As the party trend is growing, this industry seems to be growing.

Potential Poker and Gambling Revenues

Posted in Enjoyment, Gaming World, Wheel Of Luck by admin on the March 2nd, 2009

Although perhaps not known is being a poker playing haven, a recent report states that the Balkan states and Eastern Europe are ripe to be served by the gambling and poker market, according to a recent study by research consultancy MECN.

According to the study, the Balkan states are increasingly drawing a lot of interest from casino develoeprs, despite - or perhaps because - of the current global economic crisis. And the key figures of the Balkan gambling market account for this interest: A market size of Euro 4.5 billion (gross revenue), above-average popularity of gambling, particularly of sports betting, 130 million people, and the impending EU-membership of many states, just to mention a few “The Balkan gambling markets (Greece, Turkey, Croatia, Slovenia, Serbia, Montenegro, Romania, and Bulgaria) already have a remarkable market size, and most experts confirm that the Balkan markets have a great growth potential in the coming years,” the report states.

According to MECN’s estimates, the Balkan states as a whole have an online gambling market worth about Euro 520 million (gross revenue), and most of the revenue is made by foreign operators without local licenses. This is great news for anyone living in this area of the world, as it means you may be seeing more poker playing and other gambling opportunities, whether it be by casinos or online. Let the chips fly!

Poker Faced Politics: Part Deux

Posted in Enjoyment, Gaming World, Wheel Of Luck by admin on the January 22nd, 2009

Both U.S. presidential candidates have been shown to have an affinity for the gaming world. Senator Obama’s been quoted saying he doesn’t mind a friendly hand or two every once and a while, and McCain’s military career basically begs him to learn the trade, that and we have pictures of him playing craps. But has their gaming affinity helped them at all on the campaign trail?

Let’s talk about this in terms of table demeanor. You know that type of poker player who you just can’t get a read on, who keeps that poker face on the whole time. Well, right now, that’s what the people are seeing out of Senator Obama. He’s essentially epitomizing Negreau’s three areas of concentration at the poker table. Fundamentals, discipline, and observation.

On the other hand, McCain is showing all the signs of a very calculated, but very ostentations player. A player who choreographs his emotional outbursts, who goes on tilt noticeably, who makes the risky play.

And you can’t really hate either candidate for their antics, really both styles work, it just depends on the situation.

And here’s the crux of it. Come November, the question to be asked is what table personality do the American people want to be leading the country. The rock or the bully?

I’ll reserve my opinion on the issue for the moment, as this isn’t a place for partisan politics. I’ll say this though, when gambling over the future of nation, do the people want someone who will gamble high stakes and maybe win big, or do we want a president who’ll grind his way to the final table?
