Microsoft subsidiary moving to bigger office / studio accommodation
A subsidiary of the computing giant Microsoft, which goes by the name of “Rare”, is set to move half an hour down the road from its existing headquarters based in Twycross, to Digbeth’s Fazeley Studios.
Although the site appears to have been specifically selected by their masters at Microsoft, who are said to have brokered the deal. Rare has given no reason as to why the subsidiary is moving. Most of the time, especially in the present economy, a move means office downsizing and job cuts, but Rare is currently hiring a number of new employees, specifically computer artists, programmers and many different intern staff, so it is more likely that this is an expansion move.
It may even be possible that the company will retain its existing office and studio accommodation, as there has been no indication that that agreement is being terminated.
Fazeley Studios is found in century and a half old Unitarian Chapel and offers additional desk space at adjourning old Sunday school buildings. It also is surrounded by old factory buildings that have been made into large studios.
